Adiponectin is one of the most abundant fat-derived hormones involved in a multitude of metabolism pathways. It acts as an anti-diabetic and anti-atherogenic adipokine. Adiponectin mediates its actions through mainly two receptors, AdipoR1 and AdipoR2.
